A Respite from their Long Journey

Soccer Salam is now in its third week of delivering emergency food assistance to children and families fleeing the fighting in Qayyarah and other areas south of Mosul.

After a long, arduous journey on foot for hours, and in many cases days, an average of 200 families arrive each day at a checkpoint where our team provides them with water, bread, cheese, milk, and dates. These families have suffered terribly under ISIS and arrive hungry and in urgent need of water. Some families arrive with serious injuries. UN aid agencies are not present at the checkpoint, making it all the more important for us to be there. After a brief rest with us, they are then taken by truck to displacement camps and relative safety.

This work would not be possible without the generosity of our donors.

This summer, we launched a CrowdRise campaign to raise $25,000 for Soccer Salam and we are now within reach of that goal. As always, 100% of every dollar that we receive goes directly to help families affected by violence in Iraq.

Please consider making a contribution today as our work continues – and encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same.

Your consideration of the needs of displaced children and families in Iraq means a lot to us. Thank you.
