EPIC is growing.

in 2022, we are focusing on:

peace

recovery from conflict

We are expanding our training programs in social change and peace communications for grassroots leaders in Ninewa and northern Iraq.

rights

Governance and human rights

Our ground-based reporting and analysis is helping peaceful protestors communicate their aspirations to the international community .

climate

Human cost of climate change

We're responding to the urgent need for community-led solutions to the complex problems created by Iraq's changing climate.

This is a compilation of videos made by community leaders in Sinjar, a region in northwest Iraq destroyed by ISIS in 2014. These leaders received training and coaching in video production and change strategy as part of an EPIC pilot project. Watch all their videos on the I Love Sinjar YouTube channel:

In 2022, EPIC is expanding this successful project to more regions in northern Iraq trying to recover after devastating conflict. Your support will help us put tools for change in the hands of more community leaders like these.

EPIC just published the #TishreenReport after a year-long study. Few publications offer such an authentic, ground-level glimpse inside Iraq’s national protest movement.

We also published a nationwide public opinion survey of Iraqi voters. It correctly anticipated certain trends in the recent October election that many outlets missed.

In 2022, we have plans to create an in-depth report on the effects of Iraq’s changing climate on vulnerable families. Resources like these are only possible with your support.

Iraqis are experiencing a time of tremendous change, and we are adapting our programs to their evolving needs. In June, Erik traveled to Iraq to meet with the country’s foremost environmental protection activists (@humatdijlah and @WaterkeepersIQ) and United Nations staff to discuss the increasing problems caused by Iraq’s changing climate. At the invitation of the UNDP, Erik also attended an Iraqi ministerial meeting on combating climate change.

With your support, strengthening community resilience to climate change will be a core part of our mission in 2022.
