Since its founding by veterans of the Gulf War in 1998, the Education for Peace in Iraq Center has stood by the belief that a solely military solution to Iraq’s multi-faceted challenges will not work to promote security and ensure prosperity. To defeat ISIS and make Iraq whole, we must address the humanitarian needs of the 3.3 million Iraqis displaced by violence, aid and assist Iraqi civil society so that good governance can thrive, and empower young people with education and economic opportunity – as they are Iraq’s future.
